From the Symphony Center website: An all-star lineup of musicians gathers to celebrate the 70th birthday of the legendary drummer, pianist and composer Jack DeJohnette in this Symphony Center Presents Jazz series performance. Known for his work with Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane, Charles Lloyd, Thelonious Monk, Keith Jarrett and more, DeJohnette has long been admired as one of the greatest drummers in jazz. Adding to his multiple Grammy Awards and other accolades, DeJohnette was recently named a 2012 Jazz Master by the National Endowment for the Arts. For this special celebration, DeJohnette’s trio, Gateway—with guitarist John Abercrombie and bassist Dave Holland—reunites more than 35 years after the release of their self-titled first album and more than 15 years since their last recording together, 1996’s In the Moment.
